Know your fuel type
- レギュラー Regular (red): most rental cars
- ハイオク High-octane (yellow): premium models
- 軽油 Diesel (green)
- 軽油 is NOT fuel for kei cars — the most common misunderstanding
Using a self-service pump
- Choose cash or card on the touch panel
- Select fuel type and 満タン (fill up)
- Touch the static pad before handling the nozzle
- Collect receipt and change at the settlement machine
Full-to-full returns
Most rentals are full-to-full. Refuel near the return branch and keep the receipt, or you will be charged an above-market rate. Rural stations close early and may shut on Sundays — refuel at half a tank.
